PostSubject: I think I'm in a slump   Fri Jan 09, 2009 4:17 pm

Now granted I don't have a lot of time to read, but I can't seem to get through a book. I like the romances, but they all seem the same. Even the sex scenes are becoming a big snore. Is it me? I tried changing it up by reading some mystery type stuff, but eh. Anyone else have the same problem? I tried Ward, like a few of them. Tried the Dark Hunter series, but haven't really gotten into that either. I think I have to go back to Kresley Cole, I liked her stuff. I'm going to go through the other suggestions on here and pick some from there.

Have you tried Gena Showalter's 'Lords of the Underworld' or Nalini Singh's 'Psy/Changelings' series? They're both a little different from the usual romance (IMO anyways, lol!)

I was in a bit of a reading slump mainly bc of the holidays but like you everything had the same old theme, so I started reading historical novels, fantasy, contemp and horror so that helped me get back into the swing of things......The Thirteenth Tale by Diane SetterField, Farewell my Queens by Chantal Thomas, a few Stephen King books, The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, Garden Spell and The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen, The Woods are Dark by Richard Laymon, Ghostwalk by Brian Keene, East of Eden by John Steinbeck, and The Grail Conspiracy by Lynn Sholes and Joe Moore. Sometimes when I read too much of a genre for instance romance I love it but I will eventually get tired of it and I would pick up a book for a good while. Hope that helps

I did try the first of Showalter's books, and I did like it. Nat: are those mystery/crime/horror? Give me your top 3! (cause you don't have enough to do, LOL, forum mistress)
